Boater Safety Course
Are you interested in taking a boating safety course? The BLIA would like to get an idea of how many individuals would be interested in taking a boating safety course to determine if it would be feasilble to try to sponsor a session.
Experience has shown that early intervention with active sports results in successful rehabilitation from permanent injuries like spinal cord trauma, amputation, traumatic brain injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Each year the ASF teams up with the Wounded Warrior Project and DS/USA to offer weekend retreats to permanently injured U.S. troops and their families.
These brave men and women are often coming straight out of military rehabilitation hospitals with permanent injuries that they sustained fighting overseas in Iraq or Afghanistan. With ASF they get a chance to learn a sport for the first time or relearn with adaptive equipment specific to their injury. It also allows them to recreate with each other and their families.
